Currently in Global Perspectives, we are researching and studying "Patents" which fits under the category of Law and Criminality. I am new to this class, and I started late. Although I do have things to catch up on, I also understand that in this class we will be covering five topics over the course of the next two years. After this topic we will be moving onto another, chosen as a class. We come up with individual questions on each topic, which will help us understand these issues on a global, local, and personal perspective. Once we understand the issue from different perspectives, we will be able to carry out our project.
In Law and Criminality right now, we are covering Patents. A patent is a property rght that is granted by a governent and gives inventors sole rights to their invention and excludes others from making, using, distributing, exporting or importing that invention for a limited time.
As I understand it, to carry out this project we should be asking more questions to understand the topic better from different points of view, or perspectives. We should be aiming to understand the issue on a global and local level, aswell as on a personal level.

Good post, Kathleen. Just to clear one thing up, I will add that the patent project is a model of what you will continue to do more independently as you further investigate law and criminality, as well as other areas of study over the next two years of Global Perspectives.
